The goal for this series design was to create a visual style presenting a modernized version of old-style book covers.
I utilize mostly only black and white, with one colour for accents on the cover and also for use throughout each book, such as to call attention to glossary terms in-text; each book in the set of ‘complete works’ would have it’s own spot colour.
The style of illustration is purposefully raw and unkempt, to present a gothic vibe that Poe’s work identifies with.
